Capstone to Provide 1MW Microturbine for CCHP at Top-Ranked Pennsylvania College

CHATSWORTH, Calif., Sept. 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Capstone Turbine Corporation (www.capstoneturbine.com) (Nasdaq:CPST), the world’s leading clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, announced today that it received an order for a C1000 dual mode Power Package to provide thermal and electrical power at a top-ranked, private Christian college in central Pennsylvania.

E-Finity Distributed Generation, Capstone’s distributor for the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States, secured the order, which is expected to be commissioned in summer 2016.

After switching to natural gas due to recent propane shortages in the area, the college needed a clean energy solution that would provide year-round electrical power to the campus center, and heating and cooling to various other campus buildings. Capstone microturbines were chosen for their fuel flexibility, low emissions and quiet operation. The on-site microturbine power plant is part of a long-term clean energy project to help the college reduce its carbon footprint and meet its sustainability initiatives.

The natural gas-fueled C1000 Power Package will be installed in a combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) application to produce electrical power as well as hot and chilled water. The turbine will operate in dual mode, which allows the customer to operate independently of the grid or with the grid in a load sharing capacity. With energy efficiency levels approaching 80 percent, the college will soon benefit from having lower operating expenses, minimal system maintenance and backup power capabilities.

Capstone to Upgrade European Distribution Center for Major Italian Food Retailer

CHATSWORTH, Calif., March 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Capstone Turbine Corporation (www.capstoneturbine.com) (Nasdaq:CPST), the world’s leading clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, announced today that it received an order for a C800 microturbine to upgrade a major European distribution center for Italian food retailer, Conad, in Fiano Romano, Italy.

Conad in Italy will use a Capstone C800 to provide the facility with electricity and chilled water to refrigerate the warehouse.

IBT Group, Capstone’s Italian distributor, secured the order, which is expected to be commissioned later this year.

The methane-fueled C800 microturbine will be installed in a combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) application to provide electricity to the facility as well as chilled water to refrigerate the warehouse using an ammonia absorption chiller. The trigeneration system will include a heat recovery module to produce hot water for washing and space heating for offices. Any excess electricity produced by the microturbine will be sold back to the utility, thus providing a further reduction in operational expenditures.

Headquartered in Bologna, Conad is an Italian food retail store brand that operates one of the largest supermarket chains in Italy. Conad will be one of the first Italian retailers to implement clean-and-green microturbine technology to effectively maintain a temperature-controlled facility, and at a fraction of the cost. With energy efficiency levels approaching 90 percent, the environment-friendly system will also ensure minimal system maintenance and a reduced payback period.

Capstone Turbine Secures Follow-On Order for Additional Sections of the Los Ramones Pipeline Project in Mexico

CHATSWORTH, Calif., Feb. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Capstone Turbine Corporation (www.capstoneturbine.com) (Nasdaq:CPST), the world’s leading clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, announced today that it received a follow-on order for five C800 microturbines for another phase of the Los Ramones pipeline project in Northeastern Mexico.

In addition to this order, Industrias Energetícas, Capstone’s distributor in Mexico, secured the initial order for the pipeline project in December 2014, which consisted of six C800 microturbines and sixteen C30 microturbines.
Considered to be the backbone of Mexico’s natural gas system, the Los Ramones pipeline project is part of the Mexican Energy Reform, designed to improve the gas supply in the central part of the country. The first phase of the pipeline will be approximately 114 km in length and provide a capacity of 2,100 MM
cfd, and the second phase will be approximately 740 km in length with a capacity of 1,430 MMcfd.

Five C800 high-pressure natural gas microturbines will supply power to two compression stations. The microturbines will act as the primary energy source for these remote sites and require minimal maintenance. This ensures a steady and reliable flow of power to the stations while keeping emissions low. Capstone microturbines align perfectly with the needs of oil and gas producers and can be used in all phases of production including upstream, midstream, and downstream operations in both onshore and offshore applications.

Capstone Turbine Secures Order to Upgrade Building in Sydney Central Business District

Optimal Group, Capstone’s Australian distributor, secured the order, which is scheduled to be installed in June 2015 and is the first of many similar systems Optimal plans to install in the Sydney CBD.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), Australian natural gas production has increased sharply over the past decade as a result of new projects. This combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) project will provide base load electricity, hot water recovery and cooling to the Sydney CBD building on-site via natural gas fired microturbines. Deployment in a trigeneration application will ensure the building is upgraded to maximize the efficiency of the power generated, while also reducing the payback period.

Capstone’s unique microturbine power generation system was chosen for its low emission capabilities. Unlike many reciprocating engine generators, Capstone microturbines are compliant with current and future emissions regulations as well as green building best practices, without requiring any exhaust after treatment. The environment-friendly system was designed for continuous operation, providing constant base load power with energy efficiency levels of approximately 80 percent. Capstone Turbine Secures 3MW Order to Upgrade State-of-the-Art Glasshouse in South Australia

Optimal Group, Capstone’s Australian distributor, secured the order, which is expected to be installed and commissioned in April 2015. Earlier this year, Capstone received an order from Optimal Group for fifty C65 microturbines with integrated heat exchangers for the launch of its microturbine based rental fleet. The D’VineRipe glasshouse project will increase the total amount of Capstone microturbine power in Australia to 18MW.
According to the National Farmers’ Federation, 99 percent of Australian farm businesses are family owned and operated. Agricultural commodities play a vital role in Australia, contributing to social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
D’VineRipe is one of the largest producers of glasshouse grown tomatoes in Australia.
